United by a deep passion for music, Duo Cavatine is above all a long story of friendship. Their duo name is inspired by Poulenc’s sonata for cello and piano, the very first work they played together during their university studies in Montreal.

From Monteverdi to Schnittke, the Duo demonstrates great versatility in presenting a wide range of musical styles. Winners of international competitions, including the International Music and Fine Arts Competition, Noémie and Michel-Alexandre “masterfully surf through virtuoso musical passages. By observing their mimics, body language, concentration, and total investment in their performance, we discover that they live intensely the emotions conveyed by the music and that their mission is to communicate them to us.” (Atuvu.ca)
One of the most prominent duos on the North American scene, they can be heard regularly on CBC Music, notably on the show In Concert. They are regular guests on numerous concert series, including the Pro Musica Society, the Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur, Doors Open at Southminster in Ottawa, the Belle Chapelle in Sherbrooke, the Orford Music Festival, Music Mondays in Toronto, the Heifetz International Music Institute in the United States, and the Festival del Lago in Mexico.
In the fall of 2021, Duo Cavatine was invited by Debut Atlantic, a prestigious touring organization presenting concerts in the Maritime provinces. For the occasion, they have performed at the Antigonish Performing Arts Series, Capitol Theatre, Cecilia Concerts, Acadia Performing Arts Series and Musique Royale, among others.
Passionate about teaching, they are both on the faculty of the Heifetz International Music Institute and the Festival del Lago in Mexico.
Their discography already includes a first album entitled Nuages on the KNS label.
