Noémie Raymond-Friset, cello; Michel-Alexandre Broekaert, piano
International competition prizewinners, cellist Noémie Raymond-Friset and pianist Michel-Alexandre Broekaert display a dynamic and sensitive collaboration, which is the secret to their captivating stage presence as Duo Cavatine. Their virtuosity, command of their instruments, and insightful musicianship make them one of Québec’s most prominent and exciting emerging duos. For this concert, the artists perform an ode à Paris, celebrating the undisputed capital of chamber music for centuries. They’ve chosen a program that intoxicates with the beauty, sensitivity, and emotion of the French capital. It features Paul Bazelaire’s 1924 arrangement of composer François Couperin’s Baroque dances 5 pièces en concert, Nadia Boulanger’s delicate 3 pièces pour violoncelle et piano, Malcolm Forsyth’s dazzling and colourful Eclectic Suite, and Cesar Franck’s dark and rich Sonata for violin and piano in A minor with an arrangement for cello by Jules Delsart. Presented in partnership with Debut Atlantic.
